On July 29, the Holy mass devoted to the 75th anniversary of the death of 11 sisters of the holy Family of Nazareth was held in the church of Transfiguration of Christ. During the mass, the Church was declared the Sanctuary of the Blessed Martyrs Stella and Companions.
The mass was conducted by the Apostolic nuncio in Belarus Archbishop Pintér Gábor together with Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda, Metropolitan of Belastotsk (Poland), Aleksander Kaszkiewicz, Bishop of Grodno, Antoni Dziemianko, Bishop of Pinsk., etc.
The Mass was attended by the Chairman of the Novogrudok district Executive Committee Mr.Anatoly Markevich, the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Grodno Jaroslav Ksienzhek, other guests, priests from different regions of Belarus, members of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth and other communities, Novogrudok citizens, the pilgrims from Grodno and other cities
On August 1, 1943 in a forest near Novogrudok the 11 sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth were killed. It’s been 75 years since that time. In the duty of memory, today we meet again in this Holy place. — said Mr. Anatoly Markevich, addressing the audience.
The head of the district thanked the clergy and sisters of the monastic community for their contribution to the preservation of the memory of the sisters-martyr and wished peace to all people in Novogrudok land.
“Sanctuaries — are rich religious, spiritually-cultural and material heritage of the Church and people. Each of them has its own image, formed under the influence of cult objects, peculiarities of the neighbourhood, spiritual needs of residents, etc., as well as performs an important role in the life of a local parish, neighbourhood or region.” (statute 723 §2)
